Your placenta, to eat or not to eat?

On this episode of Maternity Leave we’re talking about placentophagy. Ingesting human placenta after the birth of a baby. It’s a topic that’s been getting quite a bit of attention in the last few years as more woman share their experiences with eating their own placenta.

I thought it would be interesting to discuss the subject with two professionals in the birth community who approach placentophagy from different backgrounds.

Today we’ll learn about the history of placentophagy in Chinese Medicine and how it’s used as well as what effect it may have on breastfeeding.

My guests are Jessica Claire and Abigail Morgan.

I loved the interview. Thanks for exploring the topic with an IBCLC and a Licensed Acupuncturist. That brought the discussion to a more meaningful level than some of the news bites we’ve seen in mainstream media. I’m a big fan of Abigail’s and trust her insights. Keep up the great work on your blog!
